"I like a lot of things, but there're three things I like most: music, music and music." Ryko was born near Berlin in the middle of the 80s and early started to develop his deep relationship to music. He has always felt very close to electronic music. But it was not before his 18th birthday that the passion grew so strong that he tried his own productions. In the beginning using LoFi equipment he tried to transfer music of any kind into his very own productions. Back then he has strongly been influenced by the Big beat scene in England and by Vienna Scientists like Kruder & Dorfmeister. He had tried out different styles until he discovered the house scene. He decided to get his own equipment and to share the music that he admires so much with others. Soon he developed an affection for Deep and French house. Until today he admires artists like "Gregory Darsa", "Julien Jabre" and "Soha". Bit by bit the minimalistic sounds were hitting him and full of enthusiasm he worked on his first minimalistic productions. But only Norman Creed introduced him into the world of electronic music productions and supported him publishing his music outside of his living room. His tracks are strongly influenced by the flourishing and always self reinventing Berlin night life. Artists like "Loco Dice", "Seuil", "Boris Werner", "Lauhaus" and "Sascha Dive" are currently among those who influence him most. But also Nu Jazz, Easy Listening und Soul can be found in his music occasionally. If you want to find a synonym for Ryko's productions, it would be "Deep", which describes his tracks precisely to the point. Ryko about his music: "I love groovy, shaky things and I always try to transfer that in my productions. The tracks don't always have to be danceable or for the clubs. They can be simply for listening but still communicate a certain groove. Most important is that they reflect what the producer was feeling while doing it in order to build a relationship to him." |
